Do you want to come ride bikes?

It’s a simple question that can open so many connections. Since 2017, we have invited thousands of riders to get out to ride the streets and bike paths of Elgin. Along the way, we explore hidden sides of Elgin that are difficult to discover at the speed of a car, and we share the relaxed routes that help connect people to resources across the city. We also connect people with each other, building relationships in our diverse community.

From providing bike repair services to advocating for better infrastructure and policies, we value consent and respect our neighbors’ personhood. We believe that we are all learning all the time. We each have so much to teach each other from our various walks/rolls of life from technical knowledge to different perspectives and values. We’re excited to put our shared learnings to work.

We’re looking to empower people with their bicycle equipment and experiences. Whether your bike solution costs a few thousand or it’s a donated bicycle refurbished by our volunteer community mechanics, we want to make sure your bike works for you.

Removing barriers

We are taking on big systems through a simple tool, the bicycle. Our clients include folx experiencing lack of housing, unemployment, recent incarceration, and struggles with access to personal automobiles. We use bicycles as a lower-cost and scalable solution to support people in overcoming these challenges. We also recognize bicycles as part of the solutions to social isolation, local and global pollution, public health, and sustainable economic development.
